More About Me
I moved to the United States from Mexico City when I was 4 years old. My household was multi-cultural and trilingual, with my father being from Mexico and my mother from France. While I moved around a lot, I often tell people I am Californian because this is where I spent a majority of my life.
I became interested in mushrooms during my studies at Humboldt State University. This region of northern California is a mushroom-mecca, and there is practically a year-long mushroom season – if you know what you´re doing.
At Humboldt State the academic process fed my endlessly curious mind. I studied Environmental Sciences with a focus on Ecological Restoration and Watershed Management. This entailed courses in Botany, Mycology, Soil Science, Hydrology, Sustainability, Environmental Law, and a diverse array of other science classes. Here I also joined and eventually became president of the Humboldt State Mycology Club.
After graduating, I was called back to my home in Mexico. Here, I have had the privilege to travel the country and get to know the extremely diverse biological and cultural landscapes that exist here. I currently live in central Mexico where there is an amazing diversity of mushrooms and mushroom-loving cultrues.
